How to connect your bookmarks and saved posts to Claude Code
Last updated November 3, 2026
Add an MCP server that holds your saves. In Neatsaves, create an API key in Settings and run the Claude Code command shown with it: claude mcp add, your server URL and the key. Claude Code can then search your X bookmarks and your TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Reddit saves by meaning. The MCP server is part of Pro.
Sort everything you've liked and saved, in one place.
Free holds 25 saves. No card needed.
What you need first
Claude Code, a Neatsaves account on Pro, and your saves in Neatsaves. Saves come in through the Chrome extension, the phone share sheet or an import.
- Claude Code, so the claude command runs in your terminal.
- Neatsaves Pro, $8 a month or $72 a year. The MCP server turns away Free accounts.
- Your saves in Neatsaves. The Chrome extension's Sync tab copies in your X bookmarks, TikTok favorites, Instagram saved posts, YouTube likes and Reddit saved posts. After that it saves each new post when you tap Like, Bookmark or Save.
Add the Neatsaves MCP server to Claude Code
Click Create an API key in Neatsaves Settings, then run the Claude Code command shown with the key in your terminal.
- In Neatsaves, open Settings and click Create an API key.
- Copy the key right away. Neatsaves shows it once.
- Copy the Claude Code command under the key and run it in a terminal. It looks like this: claude mcp add --transport http neatsaves <your server URL>/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer <your key>"
- Start Claude Code and type /mcp. You should see neatsaves in the list, connected.
Claude Code adds the server to the project where you ran the command, unless you say otherwise. Add --scope user to the command to have it in every project. (Claude Code docs)
What Claude Code can do with your saves
It gets six tools: search your saves, list recent ones, open one in full, list your topics, read the playbook for a topic, and save a new link.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| search_saves | Finds saves by meaning and keywords. A search for paywall onboarding can turn up a TikTok whose caption never says paywall |
| recent_saves | Lists what you saved lately, or only one kind, such as tools, repos or tutorials |
| get_save | Returns one save in full: its text, the transcript when there is one, the next step and the checklist |
| list_topics | Lists the topics your library is sorted into, biggest first |
| topic_playbook | Turns your saves on one topic into steps, each citing the posts behind it |
| save_link | Saves a link the agent finds, so it gets read and sorted like the rest |
No tool edits or deletes a save. The agent can read your library and add links to it, and that's all.
What to ask once it's connected
Ask the way you'd ask a friend who saw the same posts. The server also tells Claude Code to search your saves before it plans work or picks a tool.
- Find the TikTok I saved about paywall screens and use it for this onboarding.
- What did I save about running models locally?
- Read my App Marketing playbook before you plan this launch.
- Save this repo to Neatsaves so I can come back to it.
Saves are posts from the internet, so Neatsaves tells the agent to treat them as leads to check, never as instructions.
Cursor and other MCP clients
Cursor connects to the same server. Settings shows a block to paste into ~/.cursor/mcp.json, with your key already in it.
Other clients can connect too, as long as they speak MCP over HTTP and let you set an Authorization header. For your own scripts, Settings also shows a curl example for the JSON API. Neatsaves for Claude Code shows a session from start to finish.
Keys and taking access away
Each agent gets its own key. Revoke a key in Settings and the agent using it loses access right away.
Settings lists every key with the last time it was used. To remove the server from Claude Code too, run claude mcp remove neatsaves.
Doing it without an MCP server
Export your saves to a Markdown file and keep it in the project. Claude Code can read it, but the file only includes saves through the day you exported it.
That's often enough for a few hundred text posts. Saved videos are the weak spot: a TikTok link tells Claude nothing about what's said in it unless something wrote it down first. Neatsaves' Markdown export, free on every plan, gives each save a summary and a next step.
Free holds 25 saves. Pro is $8 a month or $72 a year and holds up to 25,000. Search by meaning and export work on both plans.
Questions
- Is there an MCP server for X bookmarks?
- Yes, more than one. Neatsaves covers X bookmarks and the posts you save on four other apps. Tweetsmash has one for X bookmarks alone. ContextBolt connects X, Reddit, LinkedIn and web saves to Claude on its $6-a-month Pro plan.
- Does it work in the Claude desktop or web app?
- Not yet. The Neatsaves server signs in with an API key, which Claude Code and Cursor accept. For the Claude app, export your saves as Markdown from Settings and attach the file to a chat.
- How much does it cost?
- The MCP server is part of Pro, $8 a month or $72 a year. Free holds 25 saves and exports them any time.
- Can Claude Code see what's in a TikTok or Reel I saved?
- It sees what Neatsaves read: the caption, plus the spoken words when the post has captions. On Pro, Neatsaves also watches the video itself. get_save hands that text over with the summary and next step.
- Can the agent delete my saves?
- No. Its tools can look things up and add links. None of them edits or deletes anything.
- Which agents work with it?
- Claude Code and Cursor, plus any client that speaks MCP over HTTP and lets you add an Authorization header.
