How to give Claude a memory of what you save online
Last updated November 3, 2026
Claude remembers what reaches it. The Claude app keeps details from your chats. Claude Code reads your CLAUDE.md files and notes it writes for itself. Neither sees the posts you bookmark on X or save on TikTok and Instagram. To add those, attach an exported file, or connect a library of your saves over MCP.
Sort everything you've liked and saved, in one place.
Free holds 25 saves. No card needed.
What Claude remembers on its own
The Claude app remembers things from your chats. Claude Code reads CLAUDE.md files you write and auto memory notes it writes itself. All of it starts from your work with Claude.
| Memory | What's in it | Who writes it |
|---|---|---|
| Claude app memory | Topics from your chats, with a separate memory for each project. Paid plans can also search past chats | Claude, and you when you ask it to remember something |
| CLAUDE.md in Claude Code | Instructions for a project, for you, or for your organization, read at the start of every session | You |
| Auto memory in Claude Code | Your corrections and preferences for one repository. The first 200 lines or 25KB load each session | Claude |

Why your saves aren't in Claude's memory
Claude only knows what reaches it in a chat, a file or a tool. Your bookmarks stay inside X, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Reddit, and none of those apps hands them to Claude.
Pasting posts in by hand works for a few. With hundreds, it stops being practical. And a saved video gives Claude nothing to read until someone writes down what's said in it.
Ways to add your saves to Claude
Paste a few posts into a chat, attach an exported file, or connect a library Claude can search over MCP. Only the MCP route keeps up as you save new posts.
| Way | Works in | Where it stops |
|---|---|---|
| Paste posts into a chat or CLAUDE.md | The Claude app and Claude Code | CLAUDE.md loads in full every session, so a long list takes up room every time |
| Attach an exported Markdown or CSV file | The Claude app, Claude Code and ChatGPT | It's a snapshot. New saves need a new export |
| Connect a saves library over MCP | Claude Code and Cursor | Needs a service that runs the server. Neatsaves' is part of Pro |
How to set it up with Neatsaves
Bring your saves in with the Chrome extension. Then export them as Markdown for the Claude app, or connect the MCP server to Claude Code.
- Install the Neatsaves Chrome extension. It isn't on the Chrome Web Store yet, so Add to Chrome on neatsaves.com downloads a zip that you load once from chrome://extensions with Developer mode on. It takes about a minute.
- In the extension's Sync tab, start your X bookmarks, TikTok favorites, Instagram saved posts or YouTube likes. Neatsaves reads each post and files it under a topic with a summary.
- For the Claude app: open Settings in Neatsaves, export as Markdown, and attach the file to a chat or add it to a project.
- For Claude Code: create an API key in Settings and run the Claude Code command shown with it. The full steps are here.
Free holds 25 saves. Pro is $8 a month or $72 a year and holds up to 25,000. Search by meaning and export work on both plans.
Tell Claude Code when to check your saves
Add a line to your CLAUDE.md, such as: before picking a tool or library, search my saves for it. Claude Code reads CLAUDE.md at the start of every session, so the reminder is always there.
For a longer checklist that loads only when a task calls for it, write a skill instead. Claude Code treats both as context rather than hard rules, so the more specific the line, the more reliably it's followed. (Claude Code docs)
Questions
- Does Claude remember my bookmarks?
- Not on its own. Claude's memory comes from your chats with it, and your bookmarks live in other apps. Attach an export or connect an MCP server to bring them in.
- What's the difference between CLAUDE.md and auto memory?
- You write CLAUDE.md: instructions Claude Code reads every session. Claude writes auto memory: notes on your corrections and preferences, kept for each repository.
- Where does Claude Code keep auto memory?
- In ~/.claude/projects/<project>/memory/ on your computer. Every worktree of the same git repository shares that folder.
- How do I see what Claude remembers about me?
- In the Claude app, open Settings, then Your Claude, and choose Manage next to Your memory. In Claude Code, run /memory.
- Can Claude read a TikTok I saved?
- Not from the link alone. Neatsaves reads the caption and the spoken words when the post has captions, and on Pro it also watches the video, so Claude gets that text.
