How to find, search and organize your Instagram saved posts
Last updated November 2, 2026
In the Instagram app, tap your profile, then the menu in the top right, then Saved. You can file saves into collections, but Saved has no search, sort or filter. To find a saved post by what its caption or video says, copy your saves into a tool that reads each post.
Sort everything you've liked and saved, in one place.
Free includes a one-time import of 500 older likes and bookmarks. No card needed.
Where are saved posts on Instagram?
Tap your profile picture, then the menu in the top right, then Saved under How you use Instagram. Only you can see what's there.
- Tap Profile or your profile picture in the bottom right.
- Tap the Menu in the top right.
- Below How you use Instagram, tap Saved.
On a computer, the same list is at instagram.com/yourusername/saved. Instagram keeps saves in a private section of your profile. (Instagram Help)
How to organize saved posts with collections
Collections are folders inside Saved. Press and hold Save under a post to file it as you save it, or make a collection in Saved and pick the posts to add.
- Press and hold Save under a post.
- Pick a collection, or tap New collection and give it a name.
To file posts you saved earlier, open Saved, tap New collection, name it, tap Next, then tap the posts you want and tap Save. (Instagram Help)
You can rename a collection, change its cover, move posts to another collection or delete it. (Instagram Help)
Can you search or sort Instagram saved posts?
No. Saved has no search box, sort option or filters. The search bar at the top of Instagram searches the whole platform, not your saves.
Your newest saves appear at the top, with older ones below. To find an old post, open the collection where you think you put it and scroll. You can also search public Instagram for the account or dish you remember, then save the post into a collection so it's easier to find next time. (Stasht, checked July 2026)

How to download all your Instagram saved posts
Instagram's Export your information tool gives you a file of your saved posts and collections. Ask for JSON if you plan to import it into another app.
- Tap your profile, then the Menu in the top right.
- Tap Meta Account (some accounts still show Accounts Center), then Your information and permissions.
- Tap Export your information, then Create export.
- Pick your Instagram profile, tap Next, then Export to device.
- Choose what to include, such as saved posts and likes, a date range and JSON or HTML, then tap Start export.
Instagram lets you know when the file is ready. Saved posts, saved reels and your collections are among the things it can hold. (Instagram Help, Redact)
Organize Instagram saves on their own with Neatsaves
Neatsaves brings in your Instagram saved posts through its Chrome extension, files each one into a category, and lets you search them by what the caption and the video say.
- Instagram has no API for saved posts, so the extension works in your Chrome, where you're already signed in. It opens Saved, scrolls to the end and sends each post over.
- After that, tapping Save on instagram.com saves the post to Neatsaves as well.
- On your phone, share a post to Neatsaves. On Android, it shows up in the share sheet once you add Neatsaves to your home screen. On iPhone, a two-minute Shortcut does the same.
- For older saves, drop your Instagram export zip on the Import page. It takes Saved and Likes, in JSON or HTML.
- On Free, Neatsaves reads the caption, the transcript or auto-captions and the photos. Pro also watches the video.
Free covers 100 new saves a month plus a one-time import of 500 older likes and bookmarks. Pro is $8 a month or $72 a year, with no monthly limit up to 25,000 saves. Search by meaning and export work on both plans.
Questions
- Can other people see my saved posts on Instagram?
- No. Instagram's help says saved posts sit in a private section of your profile that only you can see. Collaborative collections, which you share with friends, are the exception.
- Can I search my Instagram saved posts?
- Not inside Instagram. Saved has no search box, and the main search bar covers all of Instagram. Collections narrow the pile, or you can copy your saves into a tool that searches them.
- Can I sort Instagram saved posts by oldest first?
- No. Saved shows your newest saves first and has no sort option, so in the app you reach your first saves by scrolling to the bottom.
- How do I see my saved posts on a computer?
- Go to instagram.com, open your profile and choose Saved, or type instagram.com/yourusername/saved with your own username.
- How do I download all my saved Instagram posts?
- Use Export your information under Meta Account or Accounts Center. Pick your Instagram profile, choose what to include and the JSON format, and Instagram tells you when the file is ready.
- Does Neatsaves need my Instagram password?
- No. Instagram doesn't let outside apps read saved posts, so the Neatsaves extension reads them in your own Chrome, where you're already signed in.
Sort everything you've liked and saved, in one place.
Free includes a one-time import of 500 older likes and bookmarks. No card needed.
