How to export your X (Twitter) bookmarks
Last updated November 2, 2026
X can't export bookmarks. Its data archive includes your likes but leaves out bookmarks. To get bookmarks into a file, use a tool that reads your Bookmarks page in the browser or connects to X's API. The API returns only your 800 most recent. Then save them as CSV, JSON or Markdown.
Sort everything you've liked and saved, in one place.
Free includes a one-time import of 500 older likes and bookmarks. No card needed.
Does X let you export bookmarks?
No. X has no export button for bookmarks, and the archive you download from Settings leaves them out.
Developers pointed out on X's forum in 2020 that the archive has no bookmark.js file. Guides written in 2026 still report it missing. (X Developers forum, ContextBolt)
The archive does hold your likes, in a file called like.js. If likes are what you're after, the archive is the free, official way to get every one. (X Developers forum)
How to download your X archive
Go to Settings and privacy, then Account, then Your X data. Confirm it's you with a code, tap Request data, and X emails you when the zip is ready.
- Open your profile menu and tap Settings and privacy.
- Tap Account, then under Data and permissions, Your X data.
- Confirm it's you with the code X sends to your email or phone.
- Under Download your data, tap Request data next to X.
- When X emails or notifies you, come back to the same page and tap Download archive.
The zip holds HTML and JSON files: your posts, messages, followers, the Lists you made and more. (X Help)
Ways to get your bookmarks into a file
Every route uses a tool outside X. Some read the Bookmarks page in your browser. Others ask X's API, which returns only your 800 most recent bookmarks.
| Route | Cost | Where it stops |
|---|---|---|
| A tool that reads the Bookmarks page in your browser | Many are free | It gets what your Bookmarks page loads, and it can break when X changes the page |
| A tool that connects to X's API | Varies | Your 800 most recent bookmarks |
| Tweetsmash Exports Pass | $49 once | Exports to Notion, Google Sheets and Zotero, and keeps exporting new bookmarks for 365 days |
| Dewey Export Pass | $50, good for 48 hours | PDF, CSV and media |
| Neatsaves | Export is free on every plan | 500 older saves free once. Pro holds up to 25,000 |
How to export X bookmarks with Neatsaves
Sync your X bookmarks with the Neatsaves Chrome extension, then download them from Settings as Markdown, CSV or JSON. Export costs nothing on any plan.
- Install the Neatsaves Chrome extension. It isn't on the Chrome Web Store yet, so Add to Chrome on neatsaves.com downloads a zip that you load once from chrome://extensions with Developer mode on. It takes about a minute.
- Sign in to x.com in that Chrome, open the extension's Sync tab and start X bookmarks.
- Let it scroll to the end. A pill on the page shows how many posts it found and sent. If you stop it, the next sync picks up where it left off.
- In Neatsaves, open Settings and export as Markdown, CSV or JSON. Your notes and checklists come along.
For likes, drop your X archive zip on the Import page. Neatsaves reads like.js from it, or you can sync your Likes page with the extension.
Free covers 100 new saves a month plus a one-time import of 500 older likes and bookmarks. Pro is $8 a month or $72 a year, with no monthly limit up to 25,000 saves. Search by meaning and export work on both plans.
Back up new bookmarks as you make them
With the Neatsaves extension in Chrome, tapping X's bookmark button also saves a copy, so you don't have to run an export again for new bookmarks.
Neatsaves keeps its own copy of the text it read from each post. On Pro, Connect X also brings in new X bookmarks and likes by itself, checking about once a week, even when you saved them on your phone.
Questions
- Does the X archive include bookmarks?
- No. The archive has your posts, messages, followers and likes, but no bookmarks file. Developers asked for one on X's forum in 2020, and 2026 guides report it's still missing.
- Is there a limit to how many X bookmarks I can export?
- Tools that use X's API get only your 800 most recent bookmarks. Tools that read the Bookmarks page get what the page loads. X doesn't publish a cap for the page itself.
- Can I export my X likes?
- Yes. Download your X archive and look for like.js, which lists the posts you liked. Neatsaves imports that file, and its extension can sync your Likes page too.
- What format should I export to?
- CSV opens in any spreadsheet. JSON keeps more fields and suits scripts. Markdown drops into Obsidian or Notion as notes. Neatsaves exports all three for free.
- Can I export my X bookmark folders?
- X can't. Tweetsmash lists folder export in its $99 Yearly Pass and its $49 Exports Pass.
- Do I need X Premium to export bookmarks?
- No. Premium adds folders and unlimited bookmarks, but X lists no bookmark export in any tier.
